(’umherlund Posey, owner of the Ilomefdeud (Iravs, and John 1 (’lut kc, secretary of the Negro National League, have been conducting a verbal battle in one of the weekly papers. Posey denouncing certain actions of the league, while (’lark lias been presenting the virtues. Neither has been illuminating in his articles. We think Posey and (’lark are showing a lack of wisdom in the articles. The ••battle” takes on the appearance of a circus act, from this point of view'.Ily telling of some of the wrong doings in the league, Posey is not giving tV|c baseball fans any new information. Kvery fan round tin* circuit knows that ( lark was not duly elected by the members of the league*. They also know that Gus Greenlee is behind the club in Arkon. Neither are the1 fans surprised, to learn that some hall players in the I league have not been pakl their salaries. Nor were the fans taken un* j aware when the Crawfords pluyed the Philadelphia All-Stars att«*r the I league officials had voted against playing the team because the owners I refused to return Willis to Nashville. At the same time the fans knew before ( lark told them that Posey 1 was against organised baseball. They remembered Posey’s tight with 1 | the late Rube Foster. The fans also know that Posey will tamper with! hall players under contract to other clubs. As we see it the efforts of the two warring gentlemen were wasted.John llvnry Lewis, the fighting high school hoy fnm* lr***cottt Ariz.. proved that he Is the master of Maxie Kosenbloom. light heavy-j weight champion, for the second time .w hen he soundly trounced the I slap stick artist in a ten round bout In San Frunciaco Monday night./ Lewis also defeated KosenbJoom less than two months ago. /Lewis, who has been coming nlong at a rapid clip, has proved himself a menace to the champion of the light heavyweight division. It is tin* concensus of opinion among light critics on the Western (’oast that Lewis will* win the crown If the men ever meet in a title bout.At the same time many of the Ians are wondering why Lewis mol Rosen bloom in a return nontitle bout after winning the first. The lmuf should have been for the title, and the Prescott battler’s manager pulled what seems to he a boner by permitting his tighter to engage in two non-title fights against the champion. t
