TnE third and deciding game of the series between the Lawrence burgh and Newtown Base Bali Clubs was played at the Fair Grounds on last Monday in the presence of a large crowd of spectators. The‘*LV’ won by the seore]ol 11 to 8. Both clubs batted heavily—the New* towns making 13 single hits and the “L’s.” making 14 hits for 22 total bases. Christopher, Bartholomew Haynes, An-deregg, Wright, and Stanley led the batting score. Stanley pluckiiy played behind the bat after being accidentiy hit with ft bat. Isherwood played as he usually does, earnestly and splendidly. McNeal made his first appearance wiLh the “L’s.” and his»playing was marked by several fine fly'catches and two base hits. Sickles,- of Aurora, played with the Newtown’s, and upon him the management of that club throw the odium of their defeat. An examination of the score will show that his playing was better, by far, than five members of the nine he played with. Excuses are always in order with the beaten club and in this case the drowning man catches at a straw.
