Seafy Little Leaguers Up One, Down One, In Weimar TourneyIt was the same old song (win one and lose one) for the Sealy Little League representatives in the Weimar Youth Tournament last week. Thursday night the local boys outlasted Gonzales 9-8. After leading 7-0 due to homeruns by Bimbo Sloan and Bill Bohne, Sealy saw their lead vanish as Gonzales scored 8 runs in one inning. But Sealy came back to score 2 on a double high off the fence by Steve Tankersley, his third hit of the night. “Mighty Melvin” Pech-acek w'ent all the way on the mound. The next night Sealy led Weimar for three innings, w’ent behind 3-1 in the fifth and then got “bombed” out of contention in the last inning. Chris Jalowy pitched fine ball for five innings before letting up three consecutive home runs. Donnie Machala finished up. The final score was 9-1. Feature of this game was another 2 for 3 night for Bill Bohne and a sensational “over the centerfield fence” catch by Bill that saved two runs. Bill was on “lend-lease” from Bell-ville replacing the injured Sammy Dierschke. This brings to a conclusion the Little League season for 1966 and manager, Joe Burtt-schell wishes to express his thanks to coach, Willie Kutra, the Little Leaguers and their parents for the fine cooperation he had during the tournament play.
