GERMAN BEATSJOE M’CLUSKEYNew York Distance Ace Conquered In 3,000 Meter GrindHANOVER, Germany, (JP) — Max Syring, German distance ace, conquered Joe McCluskey of NewYork In a great 3.000 meters run before a crowd of 7,000 in Hinden-burg stadium yesterday but America's touring track and field athletes won seven of* the nine events in which they participated.A great finishing sprint enabled Syring to win the 3,000 meters in 8:36.2 with McCluskey 25 meters back in second place.America’s only other setback came in the ahotput, where Hans Sievert defeated John Anderson ofNew York and Henri Laborde ofStanford with a toss of 51 feet 1 7-16 inches. Laborde came back to win the discus, however, at 156 feet 8 inches with Anderson, the Olympic champion, second.Ralph Metcalfe, Marquette Negro, continued his conquest ofEuropean sprinters by winning both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. He beat Borchmeyer of Germany by a narrow margin in the 100 in 10.8 seconds but was an easy winner of the 200 in 22 seconds flat.Ivan Fuqua, of Indiana galloped the 400 meters in 47.8 seconds to win easily while Glenn Cunningham of Kansas captured the 800 meters in 1:52.6.Johnny Morris of Louisiana ran away with the 110 meter high hurdles in 14.8 seconds and George Spitz of New York cleared six feet4 1-4 iqcfcte |P Win tfcf high jUBg.ll
