BALLOTSCLOSE FOR ALL-STAR D-B ALL TEAMMott Favorite* Strengthen P0. tition*—Game With Globe Trotters Changed to Thun, day, August 9.With the deadline near a great pile of ballot* for the Albert Lea All-Star diamondball team rolled into the Tribune office for tabulation.The All-Stars will meet the trav-eling Globe-Trotters, negro soft ball team here on Thursday, August 9, The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, August 8, but because of the reception for President Roosevelt at Rochester on that day It was decided to delay the game another day.Abe Saperstein, manager of the club, wired J. M. Snyder, Y.M.C.A. secretary, that the change was satisfactory. In the wire he also stated that he had signed “Shag' Johnson, “Bubbles’’ Britten, “Dizzy Atkins, members of the famous Mohawks, eastern diamondball champions.Some of the players have virtually clinched their places on the All-Star club but there is still a merry fight in others.The leaders appear to be Vein Nelson for pitcher, with Ausen next in line. “Swede” Swenson seems to hold the favor of the fans for catcher, although Gilbert of the North Side Merchants and Laursen of the Kitchen Kooks have come up fastThe first base job of the Kitchen Kooks and Eddie Grove of the ( flops.
