Ex-Logan Youth Third In AAU EventTodd Heiner, former Logan resident, placed third in the national AAU Junior Track and Field championships lastweek at Gresham, Ore., following a year in which he won the Idaho State andregional high jump championships.Heiner, 13-years-old, is theson of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Heiner, now residents of Paul, Idaho. His leap of 5-10 was equal to the previous national record for 13-year-olds;however a new record of 5-11V*was established in the meetCurrently. Heiner is inLogan participating in the USU Basketball Camp. His sister, Debra, is president of the USU Aggiettes.Standing just 5-6, Heiner took up track for the first time this spring, working under the supervision of Hon Pease, his coach at West Minico JuniorHigh in Paul. Todd will be a ninth grade student this fall.Heiner has also placed well in running events. His 11.2 in the 100 yard dash at Boise was second in the state championships.The Heiners moved from Logan three years ago.
