HEAR YE! HEAR YE! BIG AND SMALL FRY FANSTHE GREAT NIGHT OF THE GAME OF THE HOUSE OF . DAVID APPROACHESCanton Pirates Will Meet House of David, the Bearded Boys at Canton Fair Grounds Next Sunday Night Under the Stars—Marvellous Floodlight Will Make Night Like Day—The Great Chief Bender, Star Twirler of the Big League, Himself, Will Be There in Person—See the Famous “Pepper Game”—It is a Baseball Juggling Act and Circus All Rolled in One—This Is Biggest Baseball Attraction Ever Seen in Canton, Excepting the Visit of the N. Y. Giants in June When Ha! Schumacher Got His Sheepskin.Well boys, the great night is drawing nearer each day as the season’s biggest attraction nears Canton. Yes, baseball fans, it’s the House of David baseball team managed by Big Chief Bender, former Philadelphia Athletic twirler and World Series hero back in the good old days of the early lOS’s and later, that will meet George Williams’ Canton Pirates in a night baseball game, playing under the stars with the aid of science’s great invention —the flood lights. The great night is Sunday, July 6, the place will be the Canton Fairgrounds, the time will he after 8 o'clock. The teams will be Canton Pirates and the House of David. The “Pepper Game” put on by the House of David players during the game is a bit of entertainment. It is really a baseball juggling act which has taken years to perfect. Many baseball players Jjave tried this juggling act but a have been unable to perfect the many different movements necessary to handle the ball with speed and accuracy like the House of David Pepper crew. It has often been said that this pepper game would make a headliner on any vaudeville circuit. The Pepper Game in itself is worth the price of admission. The probable line-up for the be-whiskered lads will be: Cross, first base; Joseph, second base; Rutkowski, short stop; Emmer, third base; Yordy, left field; La-Fluer, center field; Holland (not Dutch Holland of St. Lawrence University fame), r*fght field; either Anderson or Fleming, catcher; Bender, Montague, Finton, Miller, Benson, or Laufer, pitchers. The Pirates are out to beat the invaders, with probably Lay den doing the twirling for Canton.Watch for announcements as to who Canton will play Sunday afternoon. The league schedule has been revised and the opponent is unknown at the time of writing.
