BERGEY'S HOMER IN NINTH WINS FOR YOSTMEN!_Eastern Penn League Aggregation Pleases 400 FansBoyer towns entry in the Eastern Penn league openect the season on the Franklin street ball park yesterday afternoon with a 7 to 6 vie- j tory over the Colored House of David. The victory was featured; with a home run in the ninth in- j ning by George “Punch Bergev, the 1 fence buster who has become popular with fans here because of his I slugging. Punch connected for two more hits, a double and a single.Four hundred enthusiastic fans attended and saw a pitching battle between Clem Mack’s Joe McGrafT and Harry Dersh. Jim Yost's righthander. The locals collected 11 hits. Bergey’s fence drive came when the score wa; tie. Two men were out and McGraff curved two over the platter before Bergey crashed his fence buster.Manager Jim Yost announced after the game that three Gilberts-vllle players hao signed. The new players are Benny Benfield, Gilberts ville first sacker; Curley Fron-heiser, outflelding slugger and Jack Stauffer, slugging catcher. Another attempt will be made today, when Manager Yost meets Dr. Carl Clouser at Reading to sign him to pitch. Clouser is the biggest drawing player here and has had a large following for about three years.
