Cruciani throws no-hitterTodd Cruciani became the first Fond du Lac pitcher to hurl a no-hitter in six years Wednesday afternoon when he authored a 3-0 masterpiece over Berlin at Fairgrounds Park.The junior right-hander was the complete master, striking out nine and walking three in recording his first victory of the season. It was the third straight win for the Cardinals.Ron Mattefs, who turned the trick in 1970 against Mayville, was the last Fond du Lac pitcher to get a no-hitter.Cruciani was strong from start to finish against Berlin. He retired the first six hitters in the Indian order in the last two innings to preserve the nohitter.Fond du Lac, which stole eight bases in the game to run its total to 20 for three games this season, used its speed to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to snap a scoreless tie.Tom Brazill, who reached base on an error, stole second and went to third on another3Lundquist dropped SteveMiller's fly ball in short right field.The Cardinals added aninsurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
