Invitational crownMax Ham and Jim Lindstedt won individual titles to spark the UW-Oshkosh track team to the team title of the Carthage College Invitational meet last Saturday.Ham won the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:07.6 and Linstedt placed first in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.8.“It was great to win a strong invitational meet,” said UW-O Coach Jim Flood. “It was also great to see some different teams than we see every week. The weather conditions were marginal, but we saw some excellent performances from a number of our athletes.”The Titans’ 400-meter relay team of Dan O’Hearn, Barry Martzahl, Bryan Myers and Franklin Cumberbatch had the team’s only other first-place, winning with a time of 44,1.The Titans finished with 144 points, while second-place Grand Valley State College had 117.“We were very pleased with some of our performances,” Flood said. “Max Ham had another great day, and Jim Linstedt ran two excellent high hurdle races. I also thought Hugh McAloon had a good day, especially because he was coming off a hamstring injury.” Tuesday the Titans won the UW-White water Invitational with 164 points. UW-Stevens Point placed second with 126 points.Cumberbatch won the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.6 at Whitewater to qualify for the NCAA Division III national meet.“We are very, very pleased to win this meet,” Flood said. “In the 18 years I’ve been track coach here, this is the first time we’ve ever won this meet.”
