RUSTON (Special) — Neville High used a team effort to score 107 points and win the district 2-AA track and field championship here Monday. Ruston High was second with 86, Jonesboro had 61, Haynesville 26 and Winnfield 20. The Monroe Tigers also qual ified 11 bays in 14 events for next week's regional meet. First and second place winners from the district meet are eli gible for the regional at Pine ville. Neville won all three relays and piled up points behind Gary Pappas who took first place in the broad jump and tied for first in both the 100 and 220 dlashes. Pappas turned in a 21 1% broad jump, a 10.0 century to tie with Jonesboro’s Johnny Garlington and a 22.8 in the 2290 which was good for a dead lock with teammate Gary Holt. One other man won two events. Ruston’s Billy Patter son won both hurdles, doing the 180 in 20.4 and the 120 in 15.0. Wayne McClane gained Winn field's first with a 4:50.0 mile run and sophomore pole vaulter Tom Miller from Haynseville surprised the field by winning his event with a 12-0 effort.
