OiTThursday evening lan was taken, in a deplorable situation, to St. Giles’s Workhouie/ the oace famous pugilist, Wm. Hooper,*commonly called the Tinman. .The manner in whiclf he lived; when in keeping by the late Earl of B. and the miserable, state to which he is now .reduced, affords us a striking instance of the diversity of fortune, and more especially of the depravity of human nature: his appearance ©ust be truly affeing to those who knew Itim in the vi-gour of his day, to. see him thus contrasted, miserably emaciated, feebly passing afong humanely supported by a chimney-sweeper, who, on perceiving this unfur-runare man, shuddering as it were at the idea of en- = tering such a dismal place, exclaimed, t€ IJooper M 4 would you wish to die in the street ? Something ; faint and inarticulate fell from his lips when tie proceeded to ascend the steps, in all human probability, to finish his career! . . • *
