IIHFwantsmasksby IAN MacLAINEMOSCOW (CP) — The International Ice Hockey Federation, following Canada’s lead, is insisting that its members insist on face masks for all players 16 years and under.Gordon Renwick, president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Federation, said the members were asked to return home and select several masks that meet certain requirements and to endorse these throughout their minor hockey systems.“It’s the way we did it at home,” said the CAHA official, Canada’s delegate on the IIHF Congress.Miroslav Subert of Czechoslovakia, IIHF vice-president responsible for the new championship format, said he would rather see the old round-robin scheduling, but the current format of dividing the eight Group A teams into two four-team divisions would continue through 1981 and 1982 with on off year in 1980 for the Olympics.
