Hicks Pitches One-Hit CameDolphins, House of David Swamp Rivals — Hartley, Phi Betes Win. . Martin L. Hicks, pitching for the House of David team, nearly made the Hall of Fame again yesterday, when he whitewashed the slugging Moor's Mugs with one hit in an independent league softball contest. Pendergast was the only one to garner a hit off Hicks's de-ivery as the Mugs succumbed 9 to 0.Hicks's record to date in three games pitched includes one no-hit and two cne-hit contests.In the other games played, all in the independent league, the Dolphins swamped Boyce's Bafflers 13 to ;, Hartley defeated Livingston 11 to 3, and the Phi Betes triumphed over the Journalism aggregation 6 to 4.The Dolphins-Boyce's Bafflers affair was a one-sided battle, Maxwell of the Dolphins setting the Bafflers .down with a scant four hits. The game was enlivened by numerous errors on both sides, which were an instrumental factor in the scoring.The game between the Journalism and Phi Bete teams was close and cleanly-played, the result being in doubt until the final play. The lead shifted back and forth several times, but the Phi Betes finally won out in the sixth and seventh innings.
