MILWAUKEE — Two Wiscon-sin Rapids boxers used a third-round knockout and bye here Monday night to advance to next Monday night’s finals of the state Diamond Belt tour-y nament at the Eagles Club. n Wayne Brown, a 147-pound open division fighter who just ,1 recently decided to resume his e amateur career, began his comeback by stopping Larry Puchta after 37 seconds of the third round.Brown dumped his Milwaukee opponent at the start of the third stanza with a solid left hook and, after the mandatory eight-count, quickly floored Puchta again to end the bout and earn a spot against state champion Vic McGlonn of Milwaukee — considered by many to be the best amateur boxer in Wisconsin.Also entering the final round as an underdog will be Ken Hilgers of Rapids, who drew a bye Monday night after two late withdrawals in his 178-pound j. open class. His opponent will be state champ John Edwards it of Milwaukee.
