Bouchard CapturesMonadnock OpenerWINCHESTER, N.H, - Ron Bouchard of Fitchburg, (Mass,) powered the Bob Johnson prepared Vega Into the lead on the sixteenth lap and went on to win Monadnock Speedway's Opening Day feature event.Bouchard trailed Ed Flemke of Southington, (Conn), during the early going in the fifty lap trophy race before edging by on the backstreteh on the sixteenth time around the high-hanked quarter-raite. From then on it was Bouchard's race as he shut the door on Flemke’s repeated attempts to get by. By the time the checker's fell the bid from Fitchburg had a half lap lead on the rest of the field* Flemke remained in second at the finish. Defending Speedway Modified champion Punky Caron of Goshen, N.H., came from ninth position at the start to finish a strnntf third. WinnprHodgdon Brothers' Vega Van into fifth.Dwight Jarvi3 of Ascutney, Vt„ driving another Hodgdon Brothers Vega appeared to have the Sportsman 36-lap feature In the bag when the car's rear-end let go on the 34th lap forcing Jarvis out of the race. For the rest of the lap the lead fell to Wade Cole of West Hartland, Conn., On the 35tli lap defending Sportsman division champ, Ron Bodge, of Claremont, N.H. driving the Dave Gowdrey Pinto slipped past Cole coming out of the second turn to take the checkers. Cole was a close second* Third place fell to the 1974 Rookie-of-the-Year, Alan Drugg of Troy, N.H.The first Street division feature of the new season wascaptured easily by Bobby; Stowell of Winchester, N.H. ;* Monadnock will drop the-green flag again next Sunday; afternoon at 2• p.m. Another* field of better than seventy Mlt;h-difled.
