mmA PHOTOGRAPH OF the members of Gamma Pi chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity taken about the year 1918 on the front porch of the chapter house on Walnut Street, near Spruce is shown above. Local friends have identified anumber of the members who have been out in the world in important positions of various kinds. The chapterwas established on the University campus in 1904 and was founded at Virginia Military Institute in 1869. Easily recognized near the center is Ira Evereft Rodgers, who brought athletic fame to the University. Coach ‘Biz’ Dawson of Fairmont is in the same row. Freshmen of the year are indicated by the caps, or “dinks,” as they were called at thattime.
