Marshall Takes First, ThirdTUCUMCARI (Staff) - . Marshall Junior High's ninth • ’ _ grade track team won third • place here Saturday while the ' eighth grade squad finished first.In the ninth grade events Sandia won first place followed by Tucumcari and the Marshall Kittens took third with 54 and one-third points,Marshall took first place in five events, the 440 yard relay, 880 medley, mile relay, 120 yard low hurdles and the 70 yard high hurdles.In the 440 event it was Nicky Garcia, Todd Wright, Brian Denson and Tommy Eichen-berger winning top honors in 48.2. The same group also won the 880 medley in 1:44,5.Kent Ware, Todd Wright, Tommy Eichenberger and Brian Denson captured first in the mile relay in 3:42:2.In the 120 low hurdles it was Kent Ware in first in 14.5 and Nicky Garcia in third in 14.0. Ware also won first in the yard high hurdles in 10.0.Marshall's 880 relay team took fourth in 1:48.6. Running the event were David Harrison, Tim Westall, Scott Wilson and James Nether.Tim Westall took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet s nine inches. —Marshall also took fifth place ■ in three events, the long jump, M high jump and 440 yard dash. I Tommy Eichenberger was I the long jump participant and ■leaped 17 feet eight inches. In Ithe high jump it was Kent Ware I going over the top with a leap of ■ five Feet three inches and in the H 440 dash Steve Willis won in I 1:01.9. ■The eighth grade team took I eleven first place events, one H second, five third place events, I finished fourth two times and fl won one fifth place event.
