• 1. «• * «*• • • •Had some time Sunday afternoon during the light rains so drove out to two of our friends places where they have horses. Ed Johnson wasn't home but we looked over his Arabians. He has some dandies. One stallion looked like he could be a racer. Will have to stop out there one of these nights to get the lowdown on Ed’s horse’s.Visited for quite a spell with Elmer Marin. He has a few horses that would be ready to race in short order in case the state opens its horse racing. Marin showed us the horse he was driving over in Bottineau when he got hurt a few years back. Marin was thrown about 20 feet in the air when his horse turned a complete sommersault when another horse pulled into him. Marin has many memories of his racing days and hopes to see Minnesota fairs enjoying the races once again. Some of Elmer’s favorites horse were Viola Scott and Tennessee Joe. He has a trophy room well filled on races he has won throughout the land. Marin has travelled from Canada to California to race his horses.Cal Griffith, owner of the Minnesota Twins, says he is against pari-mutual betting. He sayd he'd have to move the Twins if this comes about. I doubt it would be; that serious.Bob Utecht, a stock car racing promoter near the cities, says he doesn’t feel there will be a chance for the parimutual bill to pass.
