Murphy, Minarcin one-hit RedskinsBy JUD MAGRIN SpoHs EditorAs expected Onoonta High pitchers Mike Murphy and John Minarcin silenced Cooperstown bats to the tune of a one-hitter but Yeliowjacket bats didn't exactly fill the air with baseballs — at least ones that went for hits.There was an obvious tendency of OHS players to look by their first two non-leaguers towards Tuesday when they willtravel to Johnson City.Oneonta had two-run innings in their first and last at. bals to coast to a 4-0 win over the 0-2 Redskins and they will play Sidney Monday before a game which may be a sneak preview of the STAC East finish.It may have been because itwas the first game but the Yellowjackets made severalmistakes not worthy of their talent and experience, mainly base running mi stakes.The score would have been two or three runs higher had they not been made.Murphy and Minarcin were both sharp although the latter didn’t get the necessary warmup before he entered tht game in the sixth inning Murphy used his good fastballand curve ball, changing speed on it occasionally, to strike out seven Redskins.Minarcin fanned two of the seven hitters he faced whilethree others hit nubbers back to him for easy outs.The Jacket with the hottest stick yesterday was second baseman John Scavo who go® two hHs, scored two runs, plus had his hardest hit ball of the day caught by (Mown shortstopShawn Mulligan.The MM pitchers also got excellent support behind them expecially from Rich Page who'll be filling the gap at shortstop this year. Page madeBengal® shoot for injunctionCincy throws block on WFL dealsCINCINNATI (AP) - The Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League won a temporary restraining order Friday blocking the new World Football League from raiding the NFL team.Cincinnati is the first NFL team to sue the rival league.The restraining order was granted by U.S. Dist. Judge David Porter after the Bengals filed suit against the newly-formed WFL, all its organizations and franchises and veteran Bengals linebacker Bill Bergey,iIn a later afternoon hearing, Judge Porter refused to grant a similar order to enjoin Bergey from engaging in activities onbehalf of the WFL, his attorney, Bart Brown Jr., said.Bergey signed Wednesday with the Virginia Ambassadors of the WFL and will begin playing for them in 1976. His contract with the Bengals expires in 1975.The restraining order ends April 29. Porter will hold a hearing then on the Bengals request for a preliminary injunction.In their suit, the Bengals ask the court to rescind Bergey’s contract with the WFL, prohibithim from promoting the WFL in any way, order him to return any money paid him by the WFL, and order him not accept any money until his NFL contract expires.The suit also asks ’the court to permanently enjoin lt;the WFL from inducing any player under ,a Bengal contract to enter into a relationship with the WFL until Ihe player's NFL contract has expired.In Washington, D. C., Jack Pardee, head coach and general manager of 'the Virginia Ambassadors, said the Bengals action won't hurt WFL recruiting efforts.“It will help, he said. “They’re advertising for us.He said Bergey's WFL contract was written “with his present contract in mind. Hispresent contract has not been breached.He said the only money Bergey will receive from the Ambassadors during the life of his Bengals contract will be an unspecified bonus for signing withthe WFL.Bengals coach and general manager Paul Brown could not be reached for comment.In a telephone conservation Bergey said he would not be ready to comment for “a dayor two.But his attorney, Brown,said, “We're ' convinced the court will eventually decide Bergey is not violating his NFL contract.Only one other Bengal has signed with the WFL. MonevVenus, 117, and Garoton Miss, 113, were among 16 set for the Gallorette.Elsewhere,' Stage Door Betty and Winter Princess headed 163-year-old fillies for the Poin-seitia Handicap at Hialeah; Mr. Prospector and Petrograd were among 10 sprinters entered for the Whirlaway Handicap at Garden State Park; andtwo fine plays, one bordering on the spectacular on the play deep in the hole.Page was robbed of his only base hit of the day in the sixth inning. With Paul ChicorelH on first, Page lined a shot to center but ChicorelH fell down and he was forced at second.Oneonta did get two runs in the frame with Scavo singling for one and Randy Thomas hitting a one-hop double over the leftfield fence for the other.In the first inning the Jacketsgot two off Skin starter Jim Warner. Page reached on an error by Shawn Mulligan to start the game. Scavo laced a double to leftcenter for one and he later scored on Bill Hugftaes’ long sacrifice fly.Hughes came up with one of the defensive gems of the day in the second inning.
