Royals Meet PortsMONTREAL, April ‘JO. — Port Arthur Bear Cats, who made Mon* treat Royals the final stepping stone to the Allan Cup last year, have come East again to open a best-of-three series with theRoyals tonight for a trophy that is newer hut carries none of the official glory.Royals and Bear Cats, re-Ispectively, the best senior amateur hockey teams in the East and West last year, meet in a consolation 'series for the runners-up of each division. With most of the old faces, they sprinkled a few newcomers who they hoped would strengthen the team into nn Allan Cup champion.Port Arthur also was believed to have—if anything—a stronger team than last year. Practically all the same players — Including the brilliant Laprade brothers, Bert and Edgar — were retained but their bid this year fell short against Calgary Stampeders in the Western final-So, the teams that advance season dope picked to meet for a second straight year in the Dominion final, do meet tonight. But at the same time. Kirkland Lake and Calgary open at Toronto a best-of-five series for the championship.
