Riverside Champ Seeks Winning Points TonightAGAWAM — It took Charlie Glazier only two races to prove that he’s serious about defending his modified championship at Riverside Speedway.The West Haven driver, whowon the track’s title by a comfortable margin last year, flopped in the inaugural program two weeks ago by failing to make it to the main event.Saturday, however, Glazier showed what champions are made of, snatching the victory from Jack I^ecuyer in the 50-lap feature with a nifty move on the 36th lap while the field was slowed down because of a caution flag.The victory vaulted Glazier from nowhere into sixth place in the point race. And tonight he’llSplit Decision For Enfield GolfSOMERS — Enfield High’s golfteam split a tri-match at CedarKnob Golf Course in Somers Friday, topping Prince Tech of Hartford 4-1, while losing to Rockville, 4-1.The split decision leaves thebe aiming at another victory and the points that go with it.Tonight’s race, starting at 7:30 p.m., is scheduled for 50 laps.Glazier began returning to form in the second semi-final, winning the 15-lap qualifier. That put him ninth in the pack for the main event.One-by-one he overtook cars until only Lecuyer separated him from the checkered flag. A quick inside move and Glazier had a clear path to the finish line.Another veteran driver with title ambitions, Johnny Lobo, hopes to return to form. Lobo won the opening race, but finished in the pack last week.I^ecuyer finished second last week. Also contending for honors were Charlie Centinaro, I^ou Carangelo and John Anderson.Bob Polverari, who finished third in last year’s point race behind Glazier and Bob Stefanik of Enfield, earned fourth place in the main event two weeks ago, but was out of the money last week.Tonight’s program lists four qualifying heats, two semi-finals, Ihe 50-lap main, and the windup Figure-8 feature.
