Earlier this week, the Hollanders lost to a potent Muskegon Heights outfit.Coach John Ham's club showed marked improvement in their play Friday afternoon and nearly turned the tables on the host nine. In their first game this season, the Holland pitchers coudn’t get the ball over the plate, but it was a different story Friday. They gave up just two walks to the Warriors, while striking out four batters and permitting nine safeties.Wayne Alofs started on the mound for the locals and turned in a creditable performance, before giving way to Tom Maring in the sixth frame Some fielding errors got Alofs into difficulty, and Maring came in with the pressure on to snuff out the rally.The locals showed more power at the plate as they connected for eight safeties. Shortstop Bill Vry-hof and Centerfielder Bob Venema paced the attack with three hits apiece.The downfall of the Maroons was in the defense, as the locals again committed six errors. The big blow' came in the third inning when five Dutch fielding misplays paved the way for five big Muskie tallies.After the clubs had played two scoreless innings, the winners broke the ice with the five-run third inning Besides the five errors. the Muskegon club bunched three hits at crucial spots to send the five runs across the plate.Holland came through with arHolland’s Paul Wlegerlnk and Muskegon’* BudAlore are practically even as they clear the second hurdle In the 120 yard high hurdle event at Friday’s meet in Holland.
