Manager Doc’s New England league I players have reported this week and I the men have been practicing morning j and afternoon. The string of pitchers t who are here is a long one, including Y Danny Friend, an Idol of the Kempton-st park period: Josslyn. Cloonin, Kehoe, Grant, Connolly, Blatchford, Courneen and Welch,The catchers include “Buster” Bur-rill, Dunbar and Wilson. The in fielders who are here are Dan Murphy, Tom Guiheen, Conroy and Connors, and Mo-riarty is expected from Chicago next week. The out Holders who are here are Mullaney, Ford, Courtney, Truesdale,Daniels and Cummings*Manager Doe says he has signed all of these players for New Bedford alone j and he denies the report that he is j helping manager McDermott of Fall River to make up a team. The suits of the local club will be white and blue, the same as last year, with stockings oi blue and maroon. The Brown university professional team may play here during the preliminary season. Man- j ager Dc ^J:as had offers from four clubs for out of town games.Amateur baseball promises to be very interesting, and the Buzzards bayleague was formed this -week, to comprise six (dubs, the Atlas Tacks, Fair-havens. Bell Cycles. Yales, Marions and Fort Rodmans. John I. Bryant was elected president and Harry L. Pope of Fairhaven secretary and treasurer. Each club must sign players and submit lists to the secretary on the Wednesday before the game. The number of players on each team is limited to 13. James Shanks and Thomas Glennon of New Bedford and Edward G. Tallman of Fairhaven have been elected a board to settle dispute and Arthur S. Booth was elected an official umpire.
