It was decided that henceforth an amateur hockey player would be designated as one who '‘either has not engaged or is not engaged in organized professional hockey.ReaffiUatlon RefusedA motion from the Amateur Athletic Union of Canada that the C.A.H.A. rcaffiliate itself with the union was turned down for the present.” The hockey body made-thc break from the Union a few years ago over the question of reimbursement fcr amateur hockey players.Another of the major resolutions passed at the morning session provides that in the 1940-41 season teams engaged in the Allan Cup and Memorial Cup playdowns will be allowed to carry only 13 mek including the spare goal-tender. In Ihe past season teams were allowed 15 men, including the susbStitutc goalie, while in seasons before that the limit was 11 men, with the spare net minder.The resolution was introduced by George Mackintosh, of Edmontok president of the Alberta branch of the association, who said it was intended both as an economy measure and because of the fact that there is a difficulty in certain sections of western Canada for clubs to engage 15 players of senior eaiibre.At the afternoon session the C.A. H.A, decided to grant each branch $1,000 to foster hockey, particularly in the lower classifications such as junior, juvenile, midget and bantam.
