With prospec*ts of winning teams all through the circuit of the Negro National Baseball League, managers are driving their tennis at a fast pace and each leaves reporters the impression that something has been held in reserve for a surprise. Yet all eyes are on “Jim”Taylor and his “Red Hot” A. B. C/s Abilities but Jim.They have been burning up the “Southern Diamonds” during training, and the managers are trying to get the lowdown on the “Hoo«ier Pastimers”.Here is an introduction to some of the teams that are in the circuit this year.Columbus will present a team of stars some well known in baseball circles. Outfield: Redus, Kerner,Griffin, Byrd, and Gilchrist. Pitching staff: Davis, Williams, Jarmon, Fisher, and McClain. Infield: Scott, Dial, White, Pope, and Brooks. There are several more men to be added to the ‘‘Buckeye” camp.Homestead Grays according to critics will be one of the classiest teams in the league. “Cum” Posey is very reluctant in giving out much advance dope until after the training has been completed. On the other hand he has collected some of the rare performers that are nationally known. An inspection of the roster revealed the following as part of the hired equipment of the “Grays”. Radoliffe, Strong, Lefty Williams, Brown, Chester Williams, Jap Williams, and Terry of Wilberforce, Peacock of Lake Charles, Buddy Burrage.Nashville Elites dropped a hard game to the Algi3r Giants recently while on an exhibition tour, in Alabama. Tom Wilson expects to bring a penant to Nashville and served notice to that fact when the “Moguls” met in Indianapolis recently. He has listed in his stables the following players. Walker, ss, Hughes, 2b, West, lb, West, lb, Snow, 3b, Dukes and Williams, catchers, Bankhead, McNeil, and B. Wright, outfield, Willis, H. Wright, Bailey, Miller, Porter, and Gisentenar, pitchers.Next week I shall place for your scutlny the lineup of Detroit, Chicago American Giants, the team that will be here to oppose the A. B. C/s on the 29th, and the Pittsburgh Crawfords.Each club owner is very optomist-ic and expects to bring horn:- a flag. What more spirit of rivalry and keen competition would one want.
