Edwards tojoin HOFFormer Washington High School basketball player Ernie Edwards, a 1937 second-team All-Ohio choice, has been named lo the Canton Negro Okttimers Athletic Association Hall of Fame.The 14th induction will be held April 25 at Canton’sCultural Center.EDWARDS PLAYED on the team that won 16 straight games during the 1936-37 season, a Massillon record. He also was a substitute on the Tiger football team, scoring two touchdowns during the 1936 campaign.Edwards' twin sons, Terry and Darius, also played football at WHS and are currently juniors on the Kent State University football squad.Others named to the Oidtimers Associalioo were Wendall Earley, a 1951 All-Ohio basketball player from Canton McKinley, Tom Harris, Negro League baseball player; George Provens, a perennial all-star in the Canton Class A League, and Marion Motley, former McKinley High School and Cleveland Browns star who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1968.
