Wins on balk _______Ellwood shadesHurricane, 3-2By BOB VOSBURG Sports EditorELLWOOD CITY—It was almost inevitable that New Castle High would lose its Section 6, WPIAL, baseball opener here yesterday on some bad mistake.gMental and mechanical lapses had caused most of the Red Hurricane s trouble throughout the cold, damp afternoon and sure • enough one finally cost the game. *New Castle pitcher Bob Wil- -■-liams committed a balk with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning to provide Ellwood City with the winning run in a 3-2 victory.That was pretty much typical of what was happening to Williams through the whole game.He pitched a strong seven innings and reserved a better fate.Take away the boners and Williams has a shutout victory.All of Ellwood's runs were unearned.Both teams had held the lead and both had come from behind, and they stood toe-to-toe at 2-2 going into the bottom of the seventh when Ellwood catcher Jim Potter led off with a single.Jeff Lash bunted Potter to second and winning pitcher John Sharek drew his second clutch walk. Pat Pietrandrea forced Sharek at second, and Ellwood had runners at first and third with two away.Williams started his windup and Pietrandrea broke for second. Williams turned and motioned toward second but didn’t throw the ball, and the balk was called immediately.Potter trotted home with the winning run.All-Section centerfielder Allan Joseph staked New Castle to a 1-0 lead as the game's leadoff battpr
