He used both hands well and hit his man when and where he chose, but was unable to get in a knockout blow. The preliminary was a 15-round contest between Hymie Goldstein, of Buffalo, and l'an McMahon, of Detroit. Goldstein had the advantage in weight, but McMahon made such a good showing that he soon had the crowd with him. There was fast lighting for six rounds. In the seventh, Goldstein fouled McMahon in a clinch, and the seconds of both men jumped in [ the ring.
