Seven runners a -conferenceMax Harn Ken Ramirez Sarah Enzcauteren wanted to rest someHorn, Ramirez, Enz named first teamSeven members of the UW-Oshkosh track teams were named to their respective all-conference teams.Sarah Enz was named to the All-WWIAC team after her winning performances in the 300- and 400-yard dahses at the conference meet.Three-time All-American Max Harn was named to the All-WSUC first team in the mile and 880, while All-American Ken Ramirez gained first team honors for winning the 440.Maureen Muldoon and Lisa Campion were named to the All-WWIAC second team. Jamie Pollard and Steve Mullen gained second-team recognition for the men.The women's team opened its outdoor season Tuesday by winning five events in a nonscoring meet at UW-Stevens Point.Once again the Titans were paced by a relay team.The Titans’ 4x 100-meter relay team of Lisa Campion* Sue Aumann, Lori Collier and Enz won in 52.2 seconds.Sue Taylor won the 3,000 with a time of 10:57. Freshman Amy Ruhland won the shot put at 36 feet, 11 inches and Kathy Harris took the javelin with a throw of 103-2.UW-O took the top two spots in the 1,500. Mary Nim-phius won it in 4:56.7 and Cooney was second.“It was a good meet for us to move people around in different events,” Titan Coach Deb Vercauteren said. “It was the first time we could throw the javelin and the hurdlers could get used to the longer races outdoors.”The team brought a smaller squad than usual because Ver-people before the meet at Northwestern University Saturday.“The business school had a lot of tests this week also,” Vercauteren said, “which caused some people to miss the meet.”Fifteen members of the men’s squad went to Stevens Point Wednesday, making up an earlier snowed out, nonscoring meet. The Titans won three events in the four-team meet.Assistant Men’s Track Coach John Zupanc said the the Titans didn’t bring any distance runners.“You can’t run a 1,500-meter race and comeHammerfrom page 22as a runner. It’s just different types of training. They might spend more time on the track while I’m in the weight room. 1 don’t feel less a part of the team because if I place, the points go toward the whole team.”The 6-foot, 203-pound criminal justice and political science major began his career at UW-0 in the discus, but later had more success with the hammer.“The discus and hammer have two different techniques,” he said. “Theback in time for Saturday,” Zupanc said, refering to UW-O’s outdoor meet at Northwestern University Saturday.Mark Beilfuss got his outdoor season to a good start, winning the hammer throw with a throw of 126 feet.Jerry Turner continued his winning ways. Turner won the 200 in 22.6 and the 100 in U .2.Zupanc said the teams didn’t keep score because of the low amount of people competing.Both the women’s and men’s teams will travel to Evanston, III.
