of commerce backing the proposed game, because I considerthe Doan Baseball school one of the most valuable assets in itsline that has ever come to Hot Springs.•‘Any time big league stars come here the resort get* publicity. That being true, consider that this school had a faculty of big league stars, and that from the first days the school opened there has been a steady stream of publicity going out of Hot Springs as a result. Furthermore, stories have been t*yndicated about theschool. It has gotten into thesound movies.—--‘‘There Is another factor toconsider. We like baseball clubsto train here. They don’t come from one city. This baseball school has over 150 boys from 20 states. Every student at the school leaves an advertiser and booster for Hot Springs. In other words, we are getting afine line of publicity in everystate from which there is a boyin the Doan school.“Last, but by no means least, we should do this for Ray Doau, who is as fine a sportsman as any one would care to meet. It was he who brought his school to Hot Springs. He could have taken it to Florida where a majority of the big leagueteams train, but he preferred Hot Springs. The expense of the school has been great. It has not asked for anything. Therefore, it is as little as Hot Springs can do in showing its appreciation of the school by giving the most liberal patronage to that game, and I feel that the citizens will respond and buy the tickets for thegame.”:j|; HIM—Doan thinks the boys in school are more advanced in thearts of the diamond sport than the laddies from St. Paul, and he says so in plain words.“Anyone who thinks these boys of ours cannot play ball has another guess coming,” Doan stated. *‘Our youngsters are more advanced in training than the St. Paul club, and we intend to present a team that will surprise notonly the opposition, but also theDoan is evidently a very popular gentleman in and about Hot Springs, and will no doubt remainso as long as he keeps the money rolling in and the publicity rollingout.
