The Bruins scored 39 points to carry off top honors, followed - pomts toby the Rupert Pirates, who showed promise of being a district threat before the season is over, with SO. Other scores were Burley 18, Buhl 17, Jerome 9 and Oakley 7.Two meet records were shattered and two two new records for new events were established during the event.Times were generally fast considering tire meet was the first of the season and all teams have been hampered by a lack of practice sessions because of poor weather.Clark Breaks RecordEmerson Clark, five-foot, six-inch star, broke a meet record In the mile run with an outstanding time of 4:47.S. Tiie old record was 4:56.5 set by Neaves of Jerome in 1841,It was Clark's first attempt at the mile. Last year he concentrated on the 440-yard dash and relay .events. The Twin Palls einderman took the lead at the gun and held the margin throughout the race. He finished half a lap ahead of his nearest competitor and had completely lapped three other racers.Rupert Sets MarchThe Rupert mile relay team also set a new meet record with a time of 3:44.5. Coach George Hays’ team was half a lap ahead of Twin Palls, which placed second.New marks also were set in the varsity and junior varsity shuttle hurdle events. The races have been shortened this year.Times for both events were slightly lower in comparison with the longer races.Field Relay EventsRelay team events also were held in the pole vault and shot put. The combined distance of four men in each of the events determined the winners.
