Annual Meeting C.A.H.A. Now In*Session, MontrealArrange For Intermediate Playdown Series For Western ProvincesMONTREAL. Martin Smith, present titlehollt;Jer, was not named.HIGH RIVER PREPARES FOR SUMMER SPORTS(Prom Our Own Correspopdent.)HIGH RIVER, April 5,—Summer sports arc being reorganized in High River, and the tennis club is preparing for an active season. Two new tennis courts will be available for players, with fees set at *5; $7.50 for married couples, and $2.50 for students. The financial statement showed that $520 had been spent in the town last year by the club. Officers elected at the annual meeting were: President, B. Willmore; vice-president, Miss N. sterling; secretary-treasurer, Douglas Fiske.At the annual golf club meeting Rev. John Orton was elected president with C. Heseltine secretary,and Arthur Taylor treasurer. The annual fee wiy be $5, with ladies free. The greens committee reported the links In fair shape for anearly season's start,method of selecting the Canadian Olympic team, the Allan cup winners of the year previous to the Olympic games, and gavo the C. A.H. A. in conjunction with its branches the authority to add players to the Allan cup winners. It was felt, however, that an all-star team made up of players from all parts of Canada was not feasible. _ ftWith regard to the establishment ™ of an intermediate' play-down scries for Manitoba, Saskatchewan* Alberta and British Columbia, the C.A.H.A. decided to lend financial assistance to the series, which will be an experiment next year that may lead to a Dominion intermed* late championship. With the formation of this series the intermedia ates of the West will forfeit th« right to challenge the seniors, and as a result the right to compete in Allan cup play-downs.Grant $1000The amount that the C.A.H.A. will grant the series was referred to the finance committee, but it was suggested that it be $1000. The four branches will share the expected deficit with the C.A.H.A. grant, also going to help cover the deficit.The p!ay-downs will be arrangedl by the* president of the C.A.H.A. or his representative, It was suggested that Manitoba meet Saskatchewan, and Alberta meet British Columbia, the two winners playing off in the final. The Mari times may also be included in the series next year, but, due to the excessive cost of transporting teams, it 1s thought improbable.W. A. Fry, of Dunnville, Ont., past president of the C.A.H.A., was elected life member.The oath of qualification administered on the ice at all branch finals, Allan and Memorial cup play-offs will henceforth be given in the dressing rooms of the teams, itwas resolved. All persons with the exception of the players and those administering the oath will be excluded from- the dressing room.The player who returns from playing hockey in the United Stateswill no longer be debarred from participating in hockey under C. A.II. A/jurisdiction for a year after the last season he played in the United States, another resolution decided.A resolution asking that $500 or more be set aside from the receipts of the Allan cup games for charitable organizations, as called for in the original policy of handling the Allan cup games, was referred to the finance committee..
