THE PENNSYLVANIANTWO RECORDS ARE BROKEN.)t?S.ms'0.erPennsylvania Runners Star in Indoor Track Meet at the Second Regiment Armory,Two records were broken and another equaled by Pennsylvania runners on Saturday night in the indoor track and field championships of the Military Athletic League, held in the Second Regiment Armory.James E. Meredith, Wallace McCurdy and Donald Llpplncott, running in the 800-yard, two-mile and 50-yard races, respectively, were the men to accomplish this feat.Meredith captured first place in the 800-yard event from a fast field of runners. He ran the distance in the remarkable time of 1 minute IT 3-5 seconds, easily shattering the former record of 1 minute 20 seconds. Cross and Church, also of Pennsylvania, secured second and fourth places.In the two-mile special scratch race, McCurdy got revenge on David Duff, of the Germantown Club, by whom lie was defeated last Wednesday night in the Wilkesbarre meet. Duff took the lead early in the race, closely followed by McCurdy until the twentieth lap. With but a short distance to go, McCurdy began a fast sprint which carried him to the tape a full ninety yards in the lead of his opponent. His time for the distance was 10 seconds faster than the former mark of 0 minutes 57 seconds.Donald F. Llpplncott, after easily capturing his heat in the 60-yard event, was hard pressed in the final by Joseph Goodman, T7, who compelled him to run his best all the way to win. Tap pincott's time for the distance was 5 3-5 seconds.A special handicap relay race of 1,480 yards for teams representing the various departments of the University was won by the Wharton School team, composed of Bacon, Lockwood, Lippincott and Meredith. This quartette, running from scratch, easily overcame the handicaps given to tlie other departments and outclassed the field. The Engineering Department finished second and the Dental School third.
