Pat's Cubs Ruin All Stars DebutPat's Cubs came over from Fredericksburg Sunday afternoon to open the Hill Country League baseball season, and that was when the lights went out for the Kerrville All Stars.The Stars used five pitchers in a futile attempt to stem the Cub Hide which swept Pat's to a lopsided 218 opening day victory.Vernon Shields started on the mound for the Stars and promptly walked the first three men to face him.He was pulled for the first of many successors midway through the first inning in the midst of an U-run Cub outburst.The All Stars made a feeble attempt at retaliation in theii half of the first, pushing a cross three runs, but they were never able to close the gap.Clifton Filer was the most ef fedivc of the parade of All Sta pitchers, but shakey fielding al lowed Pat’s to capitalize on un earned runs.Charlie Nesbit, Kerrville cate er. led the All Star hitters witl three hits in four trips.The All Stars will be lwp nj for a change in their luck un day when they meet llelotes a I Joe me at 3 p. m.
