Martin Cooper.At the eonelasion of the fune-lion a vote of thanks was moved to Lady Richards by the President, and hearty cheers were given for Lady Richards and for the President.HOUSES LEVEL IN KEEN FIGHT AT TRACK MEETClose Contest Between Bux ton And Lushington Mark Mico Sports.J J)LDfNG OF the annual track and field sporls -*• * of the Mico Training College on Saturday at ternoon presented at least one outstanding feature—that for the first time in the annals of these meetings honours were evenly divided in the house championship between the Buxton and Lushington Houses both of which collected a total of twenty-six and a half points.*'Presenting really good form, the representatives of the three competing houses—Buxton, Lushington, and Bishop—acquitted themselves in splendid fashion; and the unusually keen and interesting fight for supremacy resulted in a tie between the two houses mentioned above ior the coveted Vickers championship challenge cup.Throughout the entire programme the fight between the two' houses was most keen. And the climax was the closing event—the Tug-o-War. At this stage. Buxton led by a single point, and the closing contest was between the Bishop and Lushington houses. It was a tense moment for Buxton as both teams struggled with grim determination for the final points.After a hard fight, Lushington came through to gain the necessary point, to bring them even with Buxton.Chief performer of the meeting was N. E. Fletcher of Lushington who, by virtue oi his very brillant wins in the 100, 2_.l and 440 yards, took the individual championship of the meeting with a total of nine points.Of the competitions, those of a more serious and very attractive nature were the 220 and 440 yards contest, the Shot Put and Tug-O-War, Performances in these were of an attractive nature and standard quite good. Of the more humorous, the Spar Fighting and Mango Race did not fail to be amusing. The seventy-five yards dash for the students of Shortwood and St Josephs Training Colleges, and the 100 yards Old Students race also added considerably to the fun of the occasion.At the clo.*c of the meeting the prizes were presented to the success ful students by Mr. P. M. Sherlock, B.A.Before this, Mr. A. J. Newman, principal of the institution, extended a cordial welcome to those present, and expressed his sincere thanks, on behalf of the College, to those who in variola ways had contributed to the success of the sports, naming the staff, the directors of the college, and the Jamaica Times and Educational Supplies who, each year donated two special prizes..Following are the results of the meeting:—100 YARDS.1.
