Pierpont Morgan, the New York financier, died here today, a few minutes after noon, aged 75 years.For months his health had been declining and his symptoms became greatly aggravated about a week ago. Since Wednesday last he had been in a semi-comatose condition.Tonight his body is lying in a death chamber surrounded by dowers.Messages of sympathy were received from King Victor Emmanuel, high officials of state, diplomatic representatives and from many personal friends in all parts of the world. Morgan’s death was not known in Rome until several hours after it occurred, owing to the desire that J. P. Morgan, Jr.. in New York, might first be notified.For five days Morgan received artificial nourishment hut was unable to assimilate any food. As a result, he lost strength rapidly. He was in a condition of semi-coma, which prevented him from recognizing those about him for many hours before death.__
