■ -.....PARENTS NOT GIVE BABY BEERLittle Mothers, Impressed by Temperance Admonitions, Repeat Them at Their HomesaMothers in the foreign populated quarters of the city are being taught by their |2lt; children that they; must not give blt;?er, wine or brandy to their babies, and that hygiene is necessary to the welfare of the infanta. This is one of the beneficent results of the work of the Leagues of Little Mothers being conducted by the Child Federation, according to Dr. Mary Sallom, who is organizing and conducting the leagues.A clinic for the little mothers was held yesterday at the Italian Mission, Tenth and Kimball streets, at which Dr. Sallom continued her instruction in the careof the baby and demonstrated the manner in which the infant should be dressed for the autumn. It was while she was outlining the lesson for the day in advance that Dr. Sallom took occasion to remark how the lessons in temperance had impressed the children and how they had told her of their efforts at home to overcome the idea of the parents that liquor was good for babies. The third Little Mothers* League in this city will be instituted on Friday at the Baptist Settlement House, Passyunk avenue and Federal street, and others will be started from time to time as the Child Federation is able to secure quarters for them.
