Laura Bergt on councilLaura Bergt has been named to the Vice President’s Council on Indian Opportunity headquartered in Washington, D.U. and chaired by U.S. Vice President Spiro Agnew.Mrs. Bergt received word of her appointment last week while in Kotzebue.“[ had been told earlier that 1 was under consideration but I didn’t know until the call,” she said.The eight-member committee meets in Washington about six times a year, Mrs. BergL stated. She was supposed to. be in the nation’s capital today, but received word that the Vice President was out of town.“I’m really honored to be appointed to the council,” she said today, “especially considering the few people on the council.”
