HAND BILLS DISTRIBUTED— PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZA TION EXPLAINED. Rev. Blair, from parts unknown, appeared at the band stand in Mon ticello at the appointed time Wed nesday night of last week and for two hours expounded the principles of the Ku Klux Klan, a large crowd that had asso him. An air of muster the affair and no wr wo r the speaker appeard ,accom panied on the band — stand and started his address and at the con clusion disappeared as mysterious ly as he had come. The speaker spoke at some length on the history of the Klan move ment and stated that at present they have a membership of more than 300,000 in Indiana. He said that the only difference between the Ku Klux Klan and any other secret or der was that the other orders made their membership known and kept their principles and oaths secret while the Klan made their oaths and principles public but kept their membership secret. The speaker used as his text a card on which were printed the alleged principles for which the Ku Klux Klan stands. Chief among these were white su premacy, law enforcement, support of Christian religion, curtailment of foreign immigration, and strength ening of the public school system. Handbills were distributed about town last Tuesday evening — an nouncing a Ku Klux Klan parade to be held in Monticello Wednesday evening and at press time Wednes day afternoon considerable excite ment is apparent on the streets as the people look forward to seeing a robed parade about which they have heard so much in other towns.
