February 6, 1973 Owing to the absence of a quorum the regular weekly meeting of the City Council was not held this morning. Only Mayor Sitterle and Alderman Hummel were present. Those absent were Aldermen Ger vais, Hill and Taggart. Alderman Taggart is absent from the city and it is charged that Alderman Hill and Gervais purposely absented themselves from the meeting to avoid the defeat of the auditorship or dinance, which passed its first reading at the last meeting of the council by a vote of 3 to 2. February 6, 1948 Arlyn Stroman, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Stroman, in cluded among the list of University of Texas freshmen receiving football numerals... Dr. Khalil Totah, noted lecturer, and uncle of George, Fred and Pete Totah of this city, will speak on the Palestine situation over Radio Station KVIC, this evening at 6:45 o'clock Miss Nan Proctor, member of the Gilmer-Aikin Committee, will be in Austin today and Saturday for meetings of the educational group, which will include a ‘‘people’s program”’ session Saturday... Maxie Mayer in College Station this weekend to appear on the program of the Texas Waterworks and Sewerage Short School.
