damage $15,000, Insurance $2,500, Believed to Have Been Incentrary, Cranberry, N. ©., Sept. 27.—The lite He town of Elk Park, N. ©, has a sad appearance today. Yesterday morning about one o'clock M. L. Walsh’ store was discovered to be on fire. Assistance was immediately summoned but the building was of pine lumber and burned so rapidly that scarcely more than one hundred dollars’ worth of goods were saved. ‘The loss is from four to five thousand dollars with about two thou sand insurance, Brown's barber shop next caught fire ‘and burned rapidly. Guinn's restaur ant was soon in Hames and only a part of the contents were saved. A ware house where seventy-five sewing ma chines and a lot of furniture were stored caught fire hurt and only four machines were saved. The post office and depot were burned down but most of the contents were saved. The building where A. P. Brinkley sold goods caught from the post ofice and burned down in a few minutes, but the citizens managed to get all the goods out in the streets, though they were damaged considerable in being moved. The stores of Mia. H. L. Brinkly and W. B. Bowers were rare by hard work. ‘The residence of J. F. Dayin was thought to be loat but the men did such heroic work that it was finally saved. O. J. Headen's residence was also in great danger. There was no wind at all which ma) an exception, otherwise the whole town would be in ashes. The whole loss is $15,000 with $2,500 insurance.The general opinion is that same person set fire to Walsh's store but there is no definite crew. The telegraph line being down prevented the report from being forwarded yes terday.
