BlackCARTHAGE — Mrs. Hazel Gamer Black, 58, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 1995 at her home.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Denton, the Rev. Ray Holland, and the Rev. Roy Little officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.Surviving arc two sons, James Donald Black of Carthage, Rae Black of Vass; a daughter, Mrs. Pamela B. Heattended N.Y. University and Cooper Union Institute majoring in textiles in New York City.In World War II, Mr. Anderson served as a staff sergeant in the Army Corps of Engineers, and was stationed in the Phillipines. Early in his career, Mr. Anderson managed the Palm Beach, Fla. store of A. Sulka and Co. Custom Haberdashers for several seasons.Mr. Anderson later became a consumer wholesale account executive wiht the Wall St. Journal’s corporate advertising department in New York City. For 20 years, he owned and operated a custom men’s tailoring business in New York City.Surviving are his wife, Mary-jane Anderson; daughter, Victoria A. Higman of Washington, D.C.; granddaughter, Anya Sasha Higman of Washington, D.C.; brothers; the Rev. A. John Anderson of Columbia, Mo., Richard E. Anderson and Russell H. Anderson, boht of Wichita, Ks.A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Southern Pines by Father James Risacher.Arrangements by Powell Funeral of Southern Pines.Ottis O.
