ESCANABA GLIDER PILOT—These_ two Michigan men, one of them an Escanaba man, are among the latest class of ‘Winged Commandos” trained in Uncle Sam’s giant cargo and_ troop carrying gliders at South Plains Army Air Field at Lubbock, Texas. They now join the ranks of other glider pilots who helped make headlines in Sicily. This shot, taken in the final phases of training, shows, left to right, Albert E.
