^•o Acnemeni. 0-Election in Marlboro.Bennettaville. 8ept. 16.—In the; second primary the race between R. J. Patterson, Jr., and W. F. Rog-1 er# for sheriff was an exceedingly j hard fought contest. Mr. Patterson won by a handsome majority.The contest for this office is not a regular election or nomination. The vacancy in the office was occasioned by the resignation ofSheriff J. B. Green, who entered the race for the senate and was elected without opposition. Gov. Ansel , at the request of Sheriff Green and the county Democratic j sxecui « committee, agreed to fill! the vi tncy in the sheriffs office by apj nt ng the candidate recommend^. in the regular primary. Sheriff G rton is anxious for his successor assume the duties ofthe 01 .• c n as possible, andit is expected that upon the report of the county executive committee to Gov. Ansel, Mr. Patterson will be commissioned It is probable that the appointment will be made in the next few days. If so Sheriff Green will be ready to assist Mr. Patterson, In beginning the work of the office and In conducting the first term of court that sits here in October.
