Lynchings in the South have been vehemently railed against by the northern press and speakers, but it has remained for the State of Indiana to break the record of such affairs by lynching five men in a bunch. In the south, here and there, a brute is lynched for a crime the most heinous known to the law, but never have we heard of such a wholesale meting out of “justice” as that of the Versailles mob. —Ex.
