2 SOUTHS IDERS FILE FORSEATS ON ROOSEVELT SCHOOL BOARDJ. S. Jones, 2160 East Corona, has announced his candidacy as a board member of Roosevelt School District #6, Maricopa County, The election will be held October 2,He has lived in South Phoenix for the past fourteen years, being active in the civic, social and business affairs of the area, Mr, Jones is president of Sun Valley Life Insurance Company, Commonwealth Investment and Trust Company, Great Southwest Construction Company, and Jones Realty k Insurance Co.He is chairman of the building committee of the First Institutional Baptist Church which is now completing a $250,000 expansion program.He helped establish the South Phoenix volunteer fire department and served on the Board for four years.He has worked closely with the Roosevelt School District Board in the selection of several school sites, and has served on the Citizens Finance Committee,Mr, James O, McElroy, 2130 E, Broadway, has announced his candidacy as a member of the Roosevelt School District Board in the election to be held on Oct. 2.He has been a resident of the city since 1940 and very active in community and civic affairs.He attended Arizona State University and was a cafeteria manager in the Phoenix Union High School District for 14 years.Presently he is the food service supervisor at the Children’s Hospital.Long active in the Elks, he is the esteemed leading knight of the W. H. Patterson Lodge 477 and is a vice president of the Pacific States regional association of the Elks.He is a member of the model airplane club and an affiliate of the National Model Plane Assn. He is a member of the Cholla Sports Club.He and his wife, Esther and two children reside at 2130 E. Broadway.
