Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the unveiling of the statue of Lt-Gen. Thomas Jonathan (Stonewall) Jackson, CSA. the West Virginia Division of the UDC will place a wreath on the statue of General Jackson Friday at 2 p.m. The statue, which now stands on the grounds of the new Capi tol building on Duffy Street, was originally located on the grounds of the old capitol on the side facing the YMCA Square and the Governor's Mansion. A participant in this memo rial will be Mrs. Julian B. Coghill who rode with her moth er in a survey to attend the statue’s first unveiling. Mrs. Coghill will present the wreath to Mrs. Murray Forbes Witti chen, president general of the UDC, who will place it at the base of the state. A program loaned by the family of the late Mrs. George F. Coyle, president of Chapter 151, from 1918-22, recalls the names of many who took part in the unveiling in Capitol Square on Sept. 27, 1910. Music was by the Stonewall Brigade, calle order by Brig. Gen. 5. S. Green, W. Va. Division UCV and invocation by Rt. Rev. George Peterskin. Mrs. J. Griff Edwards, general commander in - chief, U. S. Confederate Choirs, sang. The monument was accepted by the Hon. John A. Preston. Addresses were given by Maj. Gen. Robert White and Sir Moses Ezekial, artist and sculptor; and Gen. Bennett H. Young, commander Dept. AM, UCV. VMI Cadets gave the official salute. Following the ceremony at the statue of General Jackson, the group will go to the capi tol rotunda and place a second wreath on the Stonewall Jack son bust. From there, Mrs. Wittichen will go to the Executive Man sion for a brief visit before go ing on to a tea being given in her honor by Charleston Chapter 151 UDC at the home of Mrs. E. Forrest Jones at 1502 London Heights Road. Mrs. Sidney J. Stagg, Mrs. Ralph N. Ford and Mrs Mon tague Blundon are in charge of arrangements. Guests will be introduced to Mrs. Wittichen by Mrs. Stagg. Receiving with Mrs. Wittichen will be Mrs. E. Bo Dakan Jr. of Bridgeport, Mrs. BR. E. O Conner, Mrs. John E. Hesen of Keyser, Mrs. Helen Treanor, Mrs. Charles P. Walker, Mrs. J. W. Poling of Fairmont, Mrs. W. M. Haynes of Clarksburg, Mrs. C. Lee Hamersla of Mar tinsburg, Mrs. W. Price Carter of Bluefield, Mrs. R. P. Burks of Huntington, Mrs. P. B. Gooch of Huntington, Mrs. W. Payne Brown, president of the Charles ton Chapter and chapter officers Mrs. T. Woody Evans, Mrs. John B. Adams, Mrs. John Tregedus, Mrs. Earl Carr, Mrs. Perry Poffenbarger, Mrs. H. Webb Angell, Miss Virginia Cork and Mrs. Edgar P. Stro man. Aides will be Mrs. Carl B. Early and Mrs. Roy Rollins, guest book; Mrs. David Barry Jr, Mrs. Wiliam E. Chillon Jr, Mrs. C. C. Campbell, Mrs Carl G. Bergman, Mrs. J. B Coghill, Mrs. Staige Davis, Mrs. Hereford Eggleton, Mrs. D. Gene Jordan, Mrs. John William Moore and Mrs. Harry Pugh, dining room, Mrs. Eric V. Core of Hunt ington and Mrs. Thomas J. Car ter of St. Albans, the two, immediate past division presi dents, will serve at the tea table. Assistants in the living room will be Mrs. H.R. Mearns, Mrs. Kemper Ruffner, Mrs. Clar F. Pool, Mrs. Ernest Byrd and Mrs. Walter Wood. Assisting upstairs will be Mrs. Charles Allen, Mrs. James C. Anderson, Mrs. James R. Barton, Mrs. Robert G. Kelly, Mrs. W. R. Mendenhall, and Mrs. John William Moore. Junior aides will be Liza Shephard, Virginia and Betty Floyd Adams, Catherine Pow er, Susan and Sally Satterfield and Ruth Ellen Jones who will assist in the serving of punch on the terrace with Mrs. Je rome W. Schwabe, Mrs. C. W. Showalter, Mrs. Robert Scott Spilman, Mrs. J. L. Terrie, Mrs. Lewis Tucker, Mrs. Rob ert Witschey, Mrs. Angus Gillis and Mrs. Harry Jarrett. Other chapter hostesses will be Mrs. L. F. Sutherland, Mrs. Robert C. Singer, Mrs. William A. Morton, Mrs. Frank H. Laird, Mrs. W. R. Mendenhall, Mrs. P. L. Gordon, Mrs. George ¥. Groff, Mrs. William Beavan, Miss Mary Barksdale, Mrs. Frank L. Taylor and Mrs. James Bell. Miss Marsha Leigh Thomp son will be pianist for the tea. Master John B. Adams Jr. and Master E. Forrest Jones Jr. will serve as guides for an ex hibit of Civil War mementoes on display in the family room. The Friday events will be highlights of the tree-day 62nd annual convention of the West Virginia Division UDC which opens Thursday at the Kuffner Hotel.
