The community was shocked this afternoon shortly after five o'clock, when word was passed around that Martin Varland, 65 proprietor of the Varland Grocery, had passed away suddenly in his store while waiting on a customer, from a heart attack. He was in his usual health when he went to work this morning and had not complained of being ill.
