ASHWORTH GOES TO STATE PRISONCharles Ashworth, age fifty*seven, colored, was found guilty as charged in the indictment by the circuit court jury last evening. The charge against Ashworth was assault and battery with intent to commit murder and his term will be from two to fourteen years in the state prison. Ashworth cut Patrolman Charles Belville, August 2, when the latter was attempting to make his arrest. The case was the first to come before the circuit court jury. The jury was out two hours when a verdict was returned at 5:30 o’clock Monday evening.—Marion Leader Tribune.
